Taxicab drivers to undergo coop pre-membership training
TACLOBAN CITY — The City Cooperative Office will conduct a Pre-Membership Education Seminar for taxicab drivers on Nov. 4, 2009 at the Agus Seafood and Grill here.
The purpose of this seminar is to organize a cooperative for the taxicab drivers or drivers of “Spider” cabs at San Jose Airport.
The first procedure of this activity is the cooperative orientation, which was held last October 22, 2009, when the reorganization and expenses as well as the reorganization structure composition of the number of members to be considered as cooperative was tackled. This was attended by car owners but mostly the drivers.
According to Maribel Mate, administrative aide/trainer institutional division, City Cooperative Office, through the assistance of the CCO in coordination with the Cooperative Development Authority, which is the only regulatory board that organizes a cooperative, the activities were successfully held.
“The drivers are really willing to be a part (of the coop) because it’s really their goal,” Mate added.
The tentative name for the said cooperative is San Jose Airport Transport Allied Service Cooperative. The CCO is looking forward that many drivers would join this. (Jenelyn G. Incizo, LNU Intern)
