Registrants rush to city Comelec office to beat registration deadline
TACLOBAN CITY- Hundreds of registrants rushed to the Commission on Elections city office during the last day of registration on Saturday to be able to register and vote in the 2010 elections.
This was bared by City Comelec Election officer, Atty. Rosemarie Polistico, who said these registrants had obviously waited for the last day of registration.
Meanwhile, the Comelec reported earlier that there would be no extension in the deadline for registration of voters, for them to be able to prepare for the final listing of registered voters and printing of exact ballots. From November 2 to November 30, the Comelec would validate the registrants who already filed accomplished registration forms.
Polistico added that even though computer slows down the registration process in the city Comelec office, they have no problem in manpower and that despite of the large number of registrants the crowd was manageable. (Donna Elaine M. ManAlastas, LNU Intern)
