President Arroyo to inaugurate P136M Bacolod-South Kabankalan Road

Negros Occidental (16 October) — President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will inaugurate today, October 16, the Bacolod City-Kabankalan-South Road Project by way of an inaugural drive thru at the 10.48 km road in Brgy. Tangub.

The P136.50 million road project traverses from Bacolod City to the southern portion of Negros Occidental to Dumaguete City via Kabankalan Basay way.

Being a major thoroughfare, continuous improvements have been done to this highway in support to the expansion of agriculture and to enhance the social condition of the people which plays a major role in the economic growth of Bacolod City and the province of Negros Occidental.

The completed 1.817 kilometers Tangub-Singcang section alone include the expansion from 4-lanes to 6-lanes asphalt-concrete with sidewalk drainage and riprap all built at the cost of P88.5 Million. Funding came from the DPWH Regular Infra and from Cong. Monico Peuntebella.

The President will be received at the event site by Bacolod City Lone District Representative Monico Puentebella, DPWH Bacolod City District Engineer Norma Deloguines and Barangay Tangub Chairman Carlos Montano.

From there, President Arroyo will proceed to a Climate Change Event for Negros Occ. at the Gen. Aniceto Lacson Home in Talisay City to cap her series of engagements that started from the 59th Handurawan Charter Day Anniversary in town Moises Padilla, inauguration of the Bagacay and Bagroy bridges in the municipality of Isabela, a PCSO “Common Tao” Day in the town of Binalbagan and a Farmer’s Forum in Bago city.
