OWWA to hold OFW Family Day

TACLOBAN CITY- The Overseas Welfare Administration will hold a big annual affair celebration which is called the OFW Family Day on December 12, 2009 for all the OFWS’ and dependents here in Region 8 which will be held at Eastern Visayas State University Auditorium.

This activity is in accordance with the migrant workers of 8042. This is separately done in every region and in any dates of December for this is “pamaskong handog” for all OFWS’ and dependents.

Every part in Region 8 the OWWA is expecting five hundred participants whether child or siblings of the OFWS’, OFWS’ itself, returnees or active are invited for as long as they can present a proof like passport.

According to Jeffrey . Signo, family welfare officer, OWWA Regional Office 8, they will also accept pre registration for the walk in applicants. At 8:30 a.m. it is for registration and then the program will follow.

“We have free lunch and snack for the participants. We have a program like presentations,“ gimiks and pakulo” for the children,” he added.

The OWWA is also planning for a medical mission but still on the process for they are still requesting for sponsors like AN WARAY PARTY LIST, and PCSO. They also have the Parol making contest for the organization. The parol is already ready made but it will not be done on the actual family day so that this would be prepared for judging.

There will also be raffle draws both minor and major prizes for the OFWS’. Sometimes they are given giveaways, anything that they can bring home.

The event will be sponsored by OWWA. Globe will sponsor perhaps cell phones or they have raffle promo for cell phones. Probably the Phil Health will sponsor the snacks and lunch.

This annual event is done for the OFWS’ for their major contribution to the country in order for them to be happy and enjoy as well as to give them honor who are considered as heroes. (JENELYN G. INCIZO, LNU Intern)
