Oplan Kandado generates P39.33M in tax collection
GOV’T CENTER, Palo, Leyte — – The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) in the region has generated P39.9 million in tax collection with its “Oplan Kandado” operation as of October this year, having padlocked 29 business establishments all over the region.
Since the launching of the project last April, the BIR has penalized 14 business establishments in Eastern Visayas where 4 of those establishments were recently padlocked in Catarman, Northern Samar.
Benjamin Mari, chief revenue officer, said in an interview with LSDE that those establishments that had been padlocked by BIR last months due to their misstated taxable sales has now resumed their business operations having complied already with the sanctions of their tax violations.
Mari further said that the implementation of this project boosted the success of their cumulative tax collection for the first nine months this year.
However, an increase in the voluntary tax compliance in Eastern Visayas has been monitored by BIR because of this “Oplan Kandado,” said Mari.
With the positive outcome of the tax collection of this project that posted a high collection for BIR this year, the office is grateful with the cooperation of their stakeholders and the taxpayers in Eastern Visayas for being responsible in their tax responsibilities.
