NP expects demolition job vs Villar as ratings improve

The Nacionalista Party is expecting the demolition job against its standard bearer to resume with Sen. Manny Villar’s improving survey ratings.

According to NP Secretary-General Alan Peter Cayetano, the Villar camp is expecting their political rivals to resort to black propaganda against the NP presidential bet in a bid to tarnish Villar’s good name.

Cayetano was referring to the latest one-on-one survey conducted by the Social Weather Stations (SWS) on December 27-28. It showed that Liberal Party standard-bearer Benigno Aquino III led Villar by only eight points. Aquino got 52% while Villar got 44%.

In that survey, Aquino got 65% while Villar only had 28%.

Cayetano also said they are confident Villar will surpass Aquino’s rating because the people approve of Villar’s efforts to help the poor.

Cayetano cited the Loveras Family who are the lucky recipients of a house and lot from Villar during the celebration of the Feast of Sto. Nino in Tondo as seen on TV program SOP on GMA 7.

Amico, 45 and Irene, 31 were chosen among so many Tondo residents because of their dire circumstances and urgent needs. The Loveras couple has been moving from one house to another and struggling to pay the monthly rents. They have two sons, nine-year-old Ian and six-year-old Mico. Ian is afflicted with blood disease (beta thalassemia), which made life more burdensome for the family. If left untreated, the disease could lead to leukemia.

Last October, Villar gave houses and lots to six families of OFWs in the noontime program “Wowowee.” They were Sarah Felecio of Negros Occidental, Marnelli Recabar of Iloilo, Rosemarie Jaca of Romblon, Hazel Vicente, also of Romblon, Joanne Sonbise of Parañaque, and Jenny Chan of Manila.

They received a fully-furnished two-storey, two-bedroom townhouse worth P1.2 million. (pr)
