Bombo Radyo and PNRC to hold bloodletting
TACLOBAN CITY — Philippine National Red Cross-Tacloban Administrator Marcela Pagasartonga said there would be a bloodletting activity at the Robinsons Place activity area this November 7, 2009.
This activity is jointly sponsored by the PNRC Tacloban and the Bombo Radyo Philippines as part of their annual anniversary celebration.
According to Pagasartonga, donating blood is a humanitarian act as it is a gift of life and a love. “People should not be afraid in donating their blood because through this they can save the lives of others,” Pagasartonga added.
Pagasartonga promotes blood donations because she believes that there are still more patients who need blood and that by conducting such activity they can be able provide the patients who go to their office with blood.
She explained that blood coming from their office are in good and in high quality condition. Aside from being clean, it is also free from hepatitis B & C, from malaria and other kinds of disease, she added.
The activity at Robinsons Place will start at ten o’clock in the morning and will end at five in the afternoon. Those who want to donate their blood must be 18 years old to 65 years old. Donors aging 60 to 65 years old are only allowed to donate their blood once they will be confirmed healthy.
“Donors heart and lungs will be examined first before they can donate their blood,” the PNRC administrator disclosed.
“Our office is expecting more donors, so we are encouraging everyone to attend and donate their blood to help our fellow men. There is no bad effect in donating your blood,” Pagasartonga said. (Joy T. Fabillar, LNU Intern)
