2 suspects in Fr. Lucero killing already identified by police

TACLOBAN CITY- Despite the Philippine National Police authorities investigating the two controversial murder cases in Northern Samar that occurred in September and October this year, Task Force Lucero commander, Sr. Supt. Gil J. Hitosis the other night reported in a follow up interview that they finally identified two of the five suspects of the killing of human rights advocate priest Fr. Cecilio Lucero, Catubig parish priest.

Hitosis, who is the number-three man of the Police Regional Office 8, said that while the identities of the identified suspects of the Lucero murder is not yet due for public consumption, police probers are the same time tagging the same group to be responsible in the killing of Manolo Daza, the brother of Northern Samar Governor Raul Daza.

The police colonel, however, made it clear that they are still making their best shot on their investigation to look for some important evidences that would corroborate the statements of the witnesses.

“Well… this is a good development in so far as investigation is concerned because we finally identified two of the five suspects who were responsible in the killing of Fr. Lucero. We will formally announce in due time once we file the case,” Hitosis told Leyte Samar Daily Express.

It was earlier clarified by the PNP that personal grudge and politics might be the primary motive of the killing of the human rights advocate priest, and they are also pinpointing business rivalry and maybe personal motives when the 63-year-old Manolo Daza was killed on October 2 inside a cockpit arena in San Jose, Northern Samar.

Sources said that the PNP might resolve the two separate killings in Northern Samar before the end of this year. (MIRIAM GARCIA DESACADA)
